Joanne has a wealth of HR and direct line management experience and has been responsible for the engagement and performance of both management teams and front-line staff throughout her career.   After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Economic History and a post-graduate qualification in Human Resource Management (CIPD), she spent the first part of her career as an HR manager for a leading bank in the UK. Working at both a hands on and strategic level, she supported branches and contact centres. Her focus included organisation reviews, reward and recognition, employee engagement and career development frameworks. This HR background has proven to be a fantastic foundation for everything she has done since.


She moved to Dubai in 2004 and quickly moved into an operational role with Emirates Airline. There she recruited and developed management teams responsible for the delivery of the exceptional on-board customer experience and exemplary service standards. Through engagement, direction, encouragement and communication, she built strong and motivated teams and championed the critical link between employee engagement and a successful customer culture.

Joanne has coached front line and mid management groups to develop their performance management and leadership skills. These managers were responsible     for teams that ranged in size literally from 6 to 600 and across 130+ nationalities.

Her breadth of people management experience is vast.  Over the past 15 years she has designed and delivered performance management frameworks; competency frameworks; attendance management strategies; UAE Graduate development programmes; and business change programmes including the complete supporting communication and engagement materials.


Joanne is a strong advocate of the importance of trust, shared ownership and empowering leadership and has developed, coached and mentored this approach. She has a reputation for her hands-on pragmatic approach, strong relationship building skills and her professionalism.


Her career in HR and line management both came together in her current role, where she provides support to individuals and companies around people management, leadership development, employee engagement and customer culture. She shares her direct experience with individual managers and within the structure of a workshop format. She is committed to ensuring that course attendees always leave with greater understanding, practical skills and the confidence to apply their learning from day one.
